A delightful performance of 'Saint Nicolas' by Benjamin Britten in conjunction with the Belfast Philharmonic Youth Choir
Our Christmas concert in Saint Andrew's Church was a delight, helped in no small way by our 'replacement' tenor Ross Scanlon and the excellent Belfast youth choir. Ross stood in, at very short notice, due to the incapacity of Owen Gilhooly. The combination of his tremendous voice, the sweetness and clarity of the childrens voices and the powerful, dynamic conducting by Lynsey Callaghan made for an excellent production by TCS of Britten's Saint Nicolas.
Having whetted their voices on Saint Nicolas, the congregation then joined in the selection of well known Christmas carols and also seemed to really appreciate Ross's 'O Holy Night', TCS's Ubi Caritas (Gjello) and the Belfast Philharmonic Youth Choir's rendition of 'Carol of the Bells'.
